Aloaha eForm Provider now supporting handwritten signatures

The handwritten electronic signature, which is done on a signature pad or mobile device with pen input, is becoming more and more important. Only it alone represents a simple continuation of the traditional work process: the writing of a signature, in electronic form.

The classic handwritten signature has considerable advantages over card and PIN systems:

• Signing is a well-known, common process
• You can not lose it
• The signature can not be forgotten
• A transfer is excluded
• The signature will never be given unintentionally
• It is accepted for the certification of declarations of intent

It is now possible to place signatures fields on the form which allow handwritten signatures. Those signatures can be “written” by mouse movements or in case of a mobile device simply drawn with the finger or a touch pen on the display of the device.

Basically with this new functionality you turn your smartphone, tablet and computer into a Signature Pad without even having to purchase and install an application or mobile app.

Typical Use Cases:

• To capture signatures on smartphones or tablets in-store, at home, in a branch, or in the office
• For field agents to get documents signed in person

Security:

• The signature is always securely bound to a unique document by a SHA512 digital signature
• To prevent sniffing of the captured biometric data SSL encrypt the communication between the smartphone and the server

Forms containing handwritten signatures will be digitally signed by the eForm Provider Server to guarantee the authenticity of the signature.

Optionally the digital server signature can be timestamped with an electronic notary such as the Aloaha Timestamping Server.

e-Signatures and eIDAS:

The eIDAS regulation contains, as before the EU directive, a subdivision into 3 different quality levels of the electronic signature, which can be used for different applications:

• Simple electronic signature (SES)
  The simple electronic signature is, as the name implies, a simple way of signing. For example, it may be a scanned signature placed as an image under documents.
• Advanced electronic signature (AES)
  The advanced form of the electronic signature offers a much higher value than the simple one. In the event of a dispute, it enables accurate validation of the signature, consisting of document integrity and authentication of the signatory. This will determine if the document has changed and which person has signed it. This form of e-signature is particularly good for all form-free processes, such as correspondence, contracts and agreements with customers and partners. Thus, always when it comes to a declaration of intent to a certain process evidence and legally compliant to document.
• Qualified electronic signature (QES)
  This type of signature requires a hardware signature token such as an smart card loaded with a qualified digital certificate. Such signature token / smart cards can be used to apply signatures with the Aloaha PDF Signator for example.

Basically, the following requirements are fulfilled:

• It is assigned exclusively to the signatory
• It enables the identification of the signer – even more if eID or Blockchain Authentication is enabled for the form
• It is created with technologies (his hand), that the signatory can keep under its sole control
• It is linked to the data to which it relates in such a way that a subsequent change is detected through additional server side digital signatures and timestamps
